What Is Binance Pay and How to Use It

2026-03-27 · 10 min read

In simple terms, Binance Pay is the cryptocurrency equivalent of mobile payment apps. You can use it to transfer funds between Binance users, pay supported merchants, and it is completely fee-free. If you do not have a Binance account yet, register on the official Binance website first, then download the Binance App to start using Pay on your phone.

What Can Binance Pay Do?

Binance Pay has three main uses:

Use case one: Send money to friends. If you and your friend both have Binance accounts and you want to send some USDT or BNB, just use Pay -- instant arrival, zero fees. This saves the mining fee you would pay for on-chain withdrawals.

Use case two: In-store payments. A growing number of merchants worldwide accept Binance Pay. Scan the merchant's QR code to pay with cryptocurrency. This is mainly available in Southeast Asia and parts of Europe.

Use case three: Send red packets. Binance Pay includes a red packet feature that lets you send lucky or equal-amount crypto red packets -- great for social occasions.

How to Set Up Binance Pay

After completing Binance registration and basic KYC verification, the Pay feature is automatically available -- no separate application needed.

When using it for the first time, you need to set up a Pay ID, which serves as your payment account. You can use your phone number, email, or a custom username as your Pay ID. Others can find you by searching this ID.

Setup steps:

  1. Open the Binance App
  2. Tap "Pay" or "Payment" on the home screen
  3. First-time entry will prompt you to set a Pay ID
  4. Set a payment password (a six-digit code separate from your login password)

Transfer Process

To send funds:

  1. Enter the Pay page and tap "Send"
  2. Search for the recipient's Pay ID, phone number, or email
  3. Select the cryptocurrency to send
  4. Enter the amount
  5. Confirm the information
  6. Enter your payment password or verify with biometrics
  7. Done -- the recipient receives it instantly

To receive funds:

  • Share your Pay ID with the sender
  • Or generate a payment QR code on the Pay page for the sender to scan

Supported Cryptocurrencies

Nearly all major cryptocurrencies listed on Binance can be sent through Pay, including:

  • USDT (stablecoin, worth approximately $1)
  • BNB (Binance platform token)
  • BTC (Bitcoin)
  • ETH (Ethereum)
  • USDC (stablecoin)

Using stablecoins like USDT or USDC for transfers is most practical since their value does not fluctuate.

Binance Pay vs. On-Chain Withdrawal

Many beginners confuse the two:

Binance Pay: Internal transfer between Binance accounts, does not go through the blockchain, so there are zero fees and instant delivery. However, it only works between Binance users.

On-chain withdrawal: An actual blockchain transaction that can be sent to any wallet address (not limited to Binance users), but requires a network fee (from a few dollars to over ten dollars) and waiting for block confirmations (minutes to tens of minutes).

Simple rule: Use Pay for Binance-to-Binance transfers. Use on-chain withdrawal for non-Binance users or personal cold wallets.

Are There Limits?

Yes. Limits depend on your KYC verification level:

  • Basic verification: Lower daily limits
  • Advanced verification: Significantly higher limits

Check the specific numbers in the Pay settings within the App. Complete higher-level KYC to increase your limits.

FAQ

Q: Is Binance Pay secure? A: Yes, quite secure. Each payment requires a separate payment password or biometric verification. Large transactions have additional verification. Funds stay within the Binance system.

Q: What if I send to the wrong person? A: Once completed, transfers cannot be reversed. You need to contact the recipient to negotiate a refund. Always double-check recipient information before sending.

Q: Can I use Binance Pay overseas? A: Yes, Binance Pay supports transfers between global users with no geographic restrictions.

Q: Are there transaction records? A: Yes, complete transaction records are available on the Pay page, with export support.

Security Reminder

Set an independent payment password for Binance Pay that differs from your login password. If someone asks you to transfer funds via Pay and promises to "return more later," this is a classic scam -- do not fall for it. Any claim requiring you to transfer first in order to receive "rewards" or "cashback" is fraudulent.
