What Security Settings Must You Enable on Your Binance Account?

2026-03-21 · 8 min read

In the cryptocurrency space, account security directly impacts your asset safety. Binance provides multi-layered security mechanisms, but users need to actively enable and configure them. Register a Binance account and the very first thing you should do is set up your security, then download the official Binance APP to ensure you're using legitimate software.

Enabling Google Authenticator

Google Authenticator is the most recommended two-factor verification method. It generates a 6-digit dynamic code every 30 seconds — even if your password is leaked, no one can log into your account without the code.

How to enable: Go to the security settings page in the Binance APP and select Google Authenticator. The system will display a QR code and a string key. First scan the QR code with the Google Authenticator app to complete binding, then make sure to write down the key and store it safely. If your phone is lost or replaced, you'll need this key to restore the authenticator.

After binding, you'll need to enter the verification code for every login, withdrawal, and security settings change. We recommend keeping SMS and email verification as backup methods in case your phone is lost and you can't log in.

Setting Up an Anti-Phishing Code

Phishing emails are one of the primary security threats facing cryptocurrency users. Scammers impersonate official Binance emails, luring you to click fake links and enter your account information. The anti-phishing code feature helps you identify real versus fake emails.

In security settings, find the anti-phishing code option and set a string that only you know — like a short passphrase. After setup, all official Binance emails will display this anti-phishing code. If an email you receive doesn't show your code, it's a phishing email.

We recommend using a code that's hard to guess but easy for you to remember. Periodically changing your anti-phishing code further enhances security.

Withdrawal Whitelist and Address Management

The withdrawal whitelist is a critically important security feature. Once enabled, you can only withdraw to addresses on the whitelist — even if a hacker gains access to your account, they cannot transfer funds to their own addresses.

Enable the withdrawal whitelist in security settings, then add your commonly used withdrawal addresses. After adding a new address, there's typically a 24-hour waiting period before it becomes active — this waiting period serves as an additional security layer.

When managing withdrawal addresses, pay special attention to accuracy. We recommend using the address book feature to add labels and notes to each address for easy management and identification. Regularly review the whitelist and remove addresses no longer in use.

Login Device Management and Other Security Measures

Binance lets you view and manage all devices that have logged into your account. In the device management section of security settings, you can see all authorized devices. If you spot an unfamiliar device, delete it immediately and change your password.

Other security measures worth enabling include: IP change alerts during login, email confirmation for new device logins, and facial recognition for fund operations. While these features add extra steps, they significantly enhance account security.

In daily use, also be mindful of: not conducting trading operations on public WiFi, not logging in on unsecured devices, and never sharing your password or verification codes with anyone. Change your password regularly and use a password manager to generate and store complex passwords. If you suspect your account has been compromised, immediately disable it through the Binance APP and contact support.
